Just a few reminders...

Please remember that this Thursday, April 30th, is our field trip day to the farm.  Make sure your child is dressed comfortably (tennis shoes, shorts or pants depending on the weather).  Your child can bring his/her lunch box to school that day, or a sack lunch will be provided for them.  We can’t wait to go on this exciting adventure!!  Check future updates for pictures!
We also have Field Day at Esther Jackson this Friday, May 1st.  Please make sure your child is wearing tennis shoes.  We will be outside for a big part of the day, so if you’d like to apply sunscreen on your child, please do so before he/she goes to school that morning.
As always, thank you for all you do, and do not hesitate to contact me at longe@fultonschools.org if you have any questions.

Have a great week!

Kindergarten News!!

Thank you so much for the birthday love!  I absolutely LOVED all the birthday wishes and gifts I received from you and your children today!!   I feel so blessed to have such a caring and thoughtful class!
Mrs. Wilson and I hoped you had a joyful and relaxing Spring Break!  We cannot believe we only have 5 more weeks of school!!  We are still in full learning mode though, so keep helping your child with his/her reading, counting, and homework.
We have a field trip coming up on April 30th.  Thank you for sending back the permission forms and money.  If you haven't already, we have enclosed a second field trip permission form in your child's folder.  Please send it back ASAP!!
Mrs. Wilson and I are so proud of all the hard work your children have done this year!  Thank you so much for your help and support.  We could not do this without you! :)
Here are some of our learning highlights:
  • Science:  We have started our animal unit.  We are studying how they move, where they live, how we can classify them.  We are also learning about off springs, and life cycles.  We should get our live caterpillars in the next few days, so we can observe the life cycle of butterflies.  We are also getting tadpoles so we can learn more about the frog life cycle.
  • Math:  we are still learning how to add and subtract with numbers, and we are now focusing on fluency.  Please practice answering addition and subtraction facts quickly with your child.  For example:  2+1, 5-4, 3+2, 4+0...  Make flashcards :)
  • Language ArtsWe are tying science and informational writing together.  Since we are learning about animals, each student gets to pick an animal they are interested in.  They research their animal using books and websites.  They then write at least 3 facts about their animal which will be typed and made into a class book.  We are also still taking our sight word challenge.  Please continue to help your child practice reading or spelling their sight words.
As always, thank you so much for your continued help and support!  Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or concerns.
Happy Spring!!
